Student Computer Facilities

General Study Labs
The general computer labs are located on Level's 3, 4 and 9 with facilities for research purposes and the completion of assignments. Students can browse the internet, print their work or use the photocopier (Level 4). The computers in this lab do not have specialised academic software and are not used for teaching purposes.

Teaching Labs
Each term certain labs are allocated for teaching purposes. These computers will have specialised course related software installed.  Provided no classes are running, these labs are also available for general student use. A lab timetable is posted outside each lab.

Student Lab Hours
Computer facilities are open from 8:00am to 11:50pm on weekdays (Mon-Fri), 9am to 5:50pm on Saturday and 10am to 5:50pm on Sunday.

The IT Help Desk

The IT Help Desk provides support and assistance for students and staff using the campus computing services. The Help Desk provides a counter service from the Level 4 Helpdesk office, and a Telephone Support Service by calling the campus on 03 8662 0578.

The Role of the Help Desk
The primary IT Help Desk role is to support users and provide technical assistance for services such as:

  Maintaining computer accounts for staff and students.
  Rollout and maintaining the campus PCs and Printers.
  Maintaining the file, web and print servers at the campus.
  Expanding, enhancing and maintaining the computer network.
  Rollout and maintain the campus academic software.
  Managing the communications and phone system.

Convenient Hours and Location
The IT Help Desk is located in the Level 4 Study Lab and is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm. During term, the Helpdesk is also open on Saturday's from 10am to 2pm.

Email
All official campus email correspondence will be sent to the students campus email address.
The student email address is "student ID@student.cqu.edu.au" and can be accessed on or off campus using the MYCQU Student Portal. The Student Portal can be accessed using this website. Just click the Student Webmail link on the website's home page.

Colour Printing
Students can use the campus colour laser printing service by coming to the Level 4 Helpdesk with the appropriate file/s that need to be printed.
The cost per A4 colour print is $1 per page. The credit will be deducted from the student's priniting/photocopying account.
